Advanced Welding 5,6 is designed to give the students a more detailed look into the career of welding. Students will have the opportunity to improve their welding and cutting skills with an emphasis on blueprint reading and welding symbols. Preparation for the work force will be stressed by developing resumes and cover letters.

- Have an advanced understanding of all shop safety rules
- Have an advanced understanding of maintenance repairing and welding
- Have an advanced of blueprint reading and weld symbols
- Demonstrate cut-o-matic operating procedures (bevel & straight cuts)
- Demonstrate arcair gouging torch operating procedures (j-groove, u-groove, gouge & repair)
- Weld a butt joint (face bend test) using fusion & brazing rod (flat position) O.A.W.
- Weld a fillet weld lap joint using fusion & brazing rod (flat, horizontal, vertical up & overhead) O.A.W.
- Weld a fillet weld t-joint using fusion & brazing rod (flat, horizontal, vertical up & overhead) O.A.W.
- Weld an outside corner joint using fusion & brazing rod flat, horizontal, vertical up & overhead)
- Weld a butt joint (root bend test) using fusion & brazing rod (horizontal & vertical up) O.A.W.
- Weld tube to tube; using fusion rod in the (2g position) O.A.W.
- Weld a square grove butt joint (root & face bend) using 6010, 6011, & 7018 (flat, horizontal, vertical up) S.M.A.W.
- Weld a 3 pass t-joint using 7018 in (flat & horizontal) S.M.A.W.
- Weld a fillet weld lap joint using 6011 (flat position) S.M.A.W.
- Weld an outside corner joint using 6013 (flat & horizontal) S.M.A.W.
- Weld a butt joint (key hole) using 6010 (flat) S.M.A.W.
- Weld a t-joint using 308 stainless & 6013 (flat & vert. Down) S.M.A.W.
- Weld a tube to plate using 7018 3/32 (flat) S.M.A.W.
- Weld an edge joint using 6013 (horizontal) S.M.A.W.
- Weld a v-groove using 6010 root pass with 7018 cover pass (vertical up) S.M.A.W.
